DOCTOR OF Pharmacy
(Pharm D.)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program is a rigorous, comprehensive pharmacy education that prepares students to become competent, caring, and ethical pharmacists. The curriculum covers the core areas of pharmaceutical science and clinical practice over 5 years of study. Throughout the program, students also participate in problem-based learning, simulation labs, small group discussions, and a longitudinal patient care experience. The curriculum is designed to develop the pharmaceutical knowledge, clinical skills, professionalism, and system-based practice needed to excel as a pharmacist. Accelerated 4-year programs are available, leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree directly after high school. Higher placements are available to qualified students. The curriculum is based on programs at U.S. pharmacy schools, and pharmacy clinical rotations are available at recognized affiliated institutions and hospitals. Enrollment is limited to ensure a low student-to-faculty ratio for personalized learning. The program is accredited by the Pharmacy Council of The Gambia.
