Visas & Entry

STUDENT VISA INFORMATION:

As an international student or foreign national, you will generally need a visa for any length of time. Student visas are issued and regulated by Ministry of Interior and NGO Affairs, The Gambian Immigration Department. The process of obtaining a Student visa to study in The Gambia depends on the nationality of the student There are general requirements to gain entry into The Gambia, in addition to the specific requirements of each foreign national. In general you must be:

  • Healthy - Inoculations are required to enter the Gambia.
  • Law-abiding - Criminal behavior is grounds for deportation.
  • Able to support yourself financially during your stay.
  • You intend to leave The Gambia after you complete your studies.

Students from ECOWAS countries listed above are required to pay 1,100 Dalasis (approximately US$ 40) per year for the duration of their full time studies at the University.


STUDENTS FROM NON ECOWAS COUNTRIES:


Students from all Non-ECOWAS countries are required to get approval from The Gambian Immigration Department to travel to The Gambia. The University can obtain the approval on behalf of the student by paying a fee of 1000 Dalasis (approximately US$ 36) prior to the student's arrival in The Gambia. Upon arrival, at the point of entry, the student shall be issued a student visas on payment of 1100 Dalasis (approximately US$ 40) to the authorities

ACCOMMODATION

"The university accommodations for students are available at university approved location. Only accommodation confirmed before the start of the Trimester shall be allotted. Due to limited availability, accommodation is not guaranteed to all students. Priority is given to new students.
All utilities are not included. All rooms and apartments have fans, en-suit bathrooms, beds and mattresses and 24 hour security.
Different sizes of rooms are allocated as per availability. Single rooms house 2 students and apartments consisting of 2 rooms house 4 students. Request for single occupancy rooms shall be entertained only with availability.
Student Residence Halls have strict policies which are to be followed up by all residents. Student Counselor can provide the policies to the prospective students upon request."

Bed sheets, pillows and towels are not provided. Internet fees applicable.
Food costs include Breakfast and Dinner Monday-Saturday only.
